THE BIG CONFESSION SPEECH BY MUHAMADU BUHARI: SHARIA CANNOT BE THE LAW OF NIGERIA
As
our nation approaches perhaps the most crucial election in our history, all
true patriots are called to deeper
reflection of the basic ingredients that bind the nation together- our
common freedom, peace and unity. This reflection is even more relevant in the
face of the illegal postponement of the general elections – a feat achieved
through various sinister ploys and with the sole aim of avoiding the will and
verdict of the people. In all of these, I feel the urge to communicate my
personal vision and thoughts to the people of our great country, especially on
the question of religion, a sensitive matter for many citizens that has become
the most frequently used tool by the ruling party. This afford me an
opportunity to give my response to the ruling party false propaganda and lies
against my person.
Needless
to say, we must at all times hold the unity, peace and progress of our dear
nation paramount and above all other considerations, especially politics. Those
who deliberately disseminate divisive disinformation and attempt to stoke
primordial sentiments using religion or ethnicity and create fear in the minds
of our people fail the standard of patriotism this nation demands of them and
deserves from them.
#VOTE2015: WHY A DEFAULTER OF CONSCIENCE MUST NOT REMAIN PRESIDENT
What
else should a conscious Nigerian be thinking about if not the oncoming national
elections. Of particular importance is the Saturday, March 28, Presidential
election. For one, it is an election that put up the commander in-chief
(President) of Nigeria affairs. And that matters a lot because in Nigeria the
president of Nigeria is like a God. Once there, the occupant of that exalted
office bounded by her philosophy may carry on with an unparalleled power to do
and undo. Perhaps due to the loopholes in the 1999 constitution, the person of
the office of president of Nigeria wield so much power that even in the face of
stiff opposition they remain unbending in implementing their unconstitutional and
acrimonious pursuit. That brings to mind the un-seeming presidential covering
of the case of illegal yet inflated bullet proof cars as bought by ministry of
aviation not too long ago which eventually stall the suppose prosecution
process.
The NLC Chairman, Mr Omar in his disappointment over the president body
language concerning the saga lamented ‘’does it mean that corruption is officially
recognised in Nigeria’’ ‘’despite all that is being said, nothing has changed.
What we expect is that the president should have asked Oduah to step aside’’.
Rather she became a regular travel accomplice of the president going from
Israel to Palestine in a manner that detail the entire presidency as defaulter
of conscience. Yet, the demeaning gambits that led to postponement of national
elections also lend credence to how office of the president can be misuse yet
unqueried. It becomes instructive to note that the person of the president is
critical to the success of the Nigeria project.Thursday, March 19, 2015
MOVING NIGERIA AHEAD: A TRUST CORPERS MUST NOT BETRAY IN THIS ELECTION
A
time must come in the life of a country that things need to be done
differently, yes, differently! It’s not only disgusting but disappointing that
Nigerians that are symbolic for being resolute and hopeful have become so
despairing to the point of losing hope of a better Nigeria. For a fact, it is
only in trying to be real, if one view Nigeria with a sentiment that reflect a
hopelessly failed country- because here the unimaginable
