COMMENDATION AS PARAKOU UNIVERSITY (BENIN REPUBLIC) STUDENTS VISIT FUTA

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has been described as a citadel of excellence.  The commendation came from a contingent of exchange students from the University of Parakou, Republic of Benin.
Receiving the students who were in FUTA for a study tour as part of their exchange programme at the Obafemi Awolowo University, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebiyi Daramola represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Tunde Arayela expressed optimism that their visit would open new vista for them and enrich their knowledge of the West African sub region.

He said that the visit was the beginning of a good relationship between the two institutions.
In his remarks, Director, Advancement Centre, Professor Bayo Aborisade said FUTA was the most advanced University of Technology in the sub region and that the institution will welcome students from University of Parakou who wished to further their education in FUTA.
Responding, the leader of the contingent, Dr Ayo Felix Omidire, Head, Department of Foreign Languages, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, said they were impressed with the state-of-the-art infrastructure on the campus, adding that what they saw was evidence that FUTA was indeed a first class seat of excellence.
Dr Omidire explained that the students were in Nigeria for a month of linguistic and cultural immersion.  He said they were touring the country’s institutions to have a comparative vision and advantage of the West African sub region.
Speaking on behalf of his fellow students, group leader, John Mark Allope said the facilities in FUTA were breathtaking and wished that their stay was extended so they could have more time to enjoy the wonderful scenery of the campus.
The elated students were then taken on a guided tour around the campus by Mr Enoch Ajayi, Chief Development Officer in the Advancement Centre of FUTA.
